Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to Sharath Srinivasa's post on August 12, I have tried every "fix" from the community for my two computers: running troubleshooters, sfc scans, resetting registry values, renaming files and folders.

I have tried to install directly from Windows Catalog, even in Safe Mode. Neither machine will install updates. I have been on the phone with MS techs for over an hour for each of the two machines. Yes, went back to the original state after each change, except for whatever changes the techs made. I can manually install Defender updates, and that's it. There must be a common thread for MS engineers to send out a fix.
