Person

Jack London

Years: 1876–1916Country: United StatesPrimary language: English

Jack London was an American writer who turned adventure, wilderness, and survival into raw, energetic fiction charged with both physical danger and social tension. In The Call of the Wild, White Fang, and The Sea-Wolf, he wrote with directness and force about people and animals tested by cold, violence, loneliness, and the limits of endurance. His work includes novels, short stories, journalism, essays, and autobiographical writing, much of it shaped by his own life as a sailor, laborer, wanderer, and prospector. London did not merely imagine the worlds he described: he worked at sea, traveled across America, and joined the Klondike Gold Rush. That lived experience gives his fiction its unmistakable edge — these are not armchair adventures, but stories written by someone who knew the taste of hunger, frost, and freedom.
