Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet endures not only because of the love at its centre, but because of its fragility. Young love flares within a world too proud, divided, and unforgiving to make room for it. That is why the play still feels so immediate: it reminds us how easily something pure can meet barriers built by others. A work that holds both the beauty of first enchantment and the sorrow of knowing that love, however sincere, cannot always change the world around it.
